a winner

i'm so excited! i won a third place ribbon for this layout!

if you've been following my blog, you know that i have been participating in a scrap olympics that one of my messges boards has been running for the month of march. throughout the month a series of challenges was issued, each one had a list of criteria that had to be followed and everything you used on the layout had to be from your stash...meaning no shopping allowed!

this last challenge really had me thinking. the challenge was for a monochramatic layout, meaning the entire layout had to use one color, only adding your photos and 10% black or white accent to the layout. i found this one to be the hardest challenge for me. i decided to go with an all white layout. i've been wanting to do a layout using santana's baptisim picture and i thought this photo would work perfectly for the challenge.

i still can't believe that i was able to create a layout that the pros thought was good enough to receive a ribbon!

here is a close up of some of the details:

i layered the photo on on white cardstock, punched with a threading water punch and than layered that on top of white vellum that i did a torn edge on.
the title is created with white glitter thickers. i used white prima flowers, pearls and ribbon along the side of the photo. i stitched white ribbon through the holes made from the threading water punch across the bottom of the page. i stamped the journal block with a basic grey stamp and hand cut it, than attached it to the layout.

lastly for the date, i stamped the date image, punched it out with a scallop punch and pop-dotted it onto the layout.

thanks for visiting!

more olympic challenges

here is the double page layout i made using the sketch provided to us. i love that i was able to put so many photos on this layout and use papers that i've been wanting to us. i used glossy accents on the guitar to make it shine like a real guitar.

olympic challenges

i am particpating in the scrapbook olympics over on the scrapbuddies message board. it has been a lot of fun and it's made me make time to get some projects completed. i decided to make an easter card for the card challenge. i stamped the image, colored it with copic markers and used a clear glitter gel pen on it.
